January 2004: The genealogist of
today has three of the most powerful tools imaginable at their finger
tips. The computer, to hold large files, the Internet to search out
leads, and now the Family Tree DNA project for when the paper trail
fails. I have spent three
years trying to connect to a Sorrels in VA. The paper trail was skimpy
to
begin with and further research didn't improve it. I figured I would
never get the documentation that I needed to prove myself to this
ancestor. Then I happened to talk with a person who was a known
descendant of the Sorrels I was wanting to connect to and he told me
that he had his DNA done through the Family Tree project. I sent mine
in (actually a cousin) and we had a perfect match! Needless to
say I was ecstatic. This is a wonderful program and I am so glad
that I am a part of it. Molly Sorrell Brown
